Kaneko Ayano "Stone Thread" Record

Brand new, unopened.

The album "Stone Thread" by kanekoayano, the band led by Kaneko Ayano, was released as a surprise digital release on April 25, 2025. It's been about two years since the previous album, "The Towel is Gentle," and the first full album since the band changed its name to "kanekoayano" in August 2024. The band, along with guitarist Hiroyuki Hayashi and bassist takuyaiizuka, spent a year on pre-production. They added drummer Sei Nagahata and percussionist Ryotaro Miyasaka as support members, forming a five-piece band, and recorded all the songs in about two weeks.

The 10 songs, including re-recordings of "Lucky" and "Not Lonely," continue Kaneko Ayano's signature folky side, but with a significantly increased degree of freedom in arrangement. Psychedelic songs are more psychedelic, and songs approaching krautrock and dub have evolved and deepened to become more experimental. They also incorporate congas and steel pans, creating various landscapes for each song. This is a very band-like work, with each member's individuality reflected in the songs more than ever before.
